UN envoy for Syria will take part in a meeting in Nur-Sultan

NUR-SULTAN (Agencies): Special Envoy of the Secretary General of the UN on Syria Geir Pedersen has confirmed his participation in the negotiations in the Nur-Sultana , which is scheduled for July 7-8, RIA Novosti reported the press service of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry.

“The UN Secretary General’s special envoy for Syria G. Pedersen confirmed his participation in the upcoming meeting,” the Kazakh Foreign Ministry said.

According to the Foreign Ministry, “at the upcoming international meeting on Syria, the Russian delegation will be headed by the special representative of the President of the Russian Federation A. Lavrentyev, Turkey – General Director of Bilateral Political Relations of the Turkish Foreign Ministry S. Unal, Iran – Senior Adviser to the Iranian Foreign Minister on Special Political Issues A. Haji, Syria – Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the SAR A. Susan, the Syrian armed opposition – A. al-Toma.”

“The event is planned to be held in a traditional offline format in compliance with quarantine measures in accordance with the decree of the Chief State Sanitary Doctor of the Republic of Kazakhstan . At the same time, given the difficult epidemiological situation in the city of Nur-Sultan, the number of participants in the meeting will be limited,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the republic said.
