BEIJING (TASS): The joint Russian-Chinese strategic military exercises “West / Interaction – 2021” began in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region in northwest China, involving 10,000 servicemen of the two countries. This was reported on Monday by the Xinhua news agency with reference to the Central Military Council of the PRC (CPC PRC).
The joint exercises are designed to deepen the interaction of the Russian and Chinese military in the course of anti-terrorist activities, as well as demonstrate the strength and firm determination of Russia and China to jointly ensure global and regional security and stability, the agency specifies.
The participants in the exercises were organized into two aviation and 13 ground units, formed from Russian and Chinese military personnel.
The air part of the parade in honor of the start of the exercise was attended by four newest fighter aircraft of the PLA Air Force of the fifth generation J-20 (“Jian-20”), as well as military transport aircraft Y-20 (“Yun-20”).
The maneuvers will last until August 13. On the Russian side, servicemen from the Eastern Military District will take part in the exercises. The exercises will be led jointly by the command of the military contingents of the two countries.
