TASHKENT (TASS): Me-mbers of the Uzbek government discussed border sec-urity during negotiations in Termez with an Afghan delegation led by deputy head of the interim government formed by the Taliban, Ab-dul Salam Hanafi. “During the meetings, representatives of various ministries and departments discussed issues of trade and economic interaction, ensuring border security, cooperation in the field of energy, international transport and transit,” the message says. It is noted that during the negotiations the parties paid special attention to the implementation of such infrastructure projects as the construction of the Surkhan-Puli-Khumri power transmission line and the Termez-Mazar-i-Sharif-Kabul-Peshawar railway.

As a result of the meetings, a number of bilateral agreements were reached on the issues discussed.

“The delegation of Afgh-anistan expressed deep gratitude to the Uzbek side for the hospitality and fruitful negotiations,” the Forei-gn Ministry concluded.
