Taliban call on Turkey to participate in Afghanistan reconstruction

KABUL (TASS): Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, dep-uty chairman of the interim Afghan government form-ed by the Taliban movement, appealed to Turkey to take part in the implementation of projects for the reconstruction and development of Afghanistan. This happened, as reported on the page of the “Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan” on Twitter , on Thursday in Kabul during a meeting with Turkish Ambassador Jihad Erginay.

According to the report, “Baradar emphasized that positive relations remain between the two countries and called on [Turkey] to [participate in] the implementation of [Afghanistan] reconstruction and development projects throughout the country.”

In turn, the head of the Turkish diplomatic mission confirmed that his country “expects the establishment of stability in Afghanistan and is open to cooperation in various fields,” including the issue of reconstruction and security of the Kabul airport.

Earlier in September, the Turkish ambassador had already met with representatives of the new Afghan authorities on several occasions. So, on Wednesday, as reported by the Afghan TV channel 1TV, he held talks with the Minister of Trade and Industry in the interim Taliban government Nuriddin Azizi, discussing with him the strengthening of trade relations between Turkey and Afghanistan.
