Pope Francis to make an apostolic trip to Greece and Cyprus

VATICAN (TASS): Pope Francis will go on another apostolic trip to Cyprus and Greece. As the head of the Holy See’s press service Matteo Bruni said on Fri-day, it will take place from 2 to 6 December and will include a visit to Lesvos.
“Pope Francis will be in Cyprus from 2 to 4 Dece-mber, where he will visit Nicosia, and from 4 to 6 D-ecember in Greece, where he will visit Athens and the island of Lesvos,” Bruni said.
In 2016, Francis already visited Lesvos, where he visited a refugee camp to-gether with Orthodox hierarchs – Patriarch Bartholo-mew of Constantinople and Archbishop Jerome II of Athens and All Greece. However, during that short pilgrimage, the pontiff did not stop in Greece.
Previously, it was assumed that Francis will visit Malta. A trip to the island was already scheduled for May 2020 but has been postponed due to the pandemic.
