MOSCOW (TASS): Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov discussed on Friday with the head of the delegation of the Syrian opposition movement Front for Peace and Freedom, Ahmed al-Jarba, the settlement of the crisis in the Arab republic. This is stated in the message of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
“During the conversation, an exchange of views took place on the development of the situation in and around Syria, with an emp-hasis on the need to adva-nce the political process on the basis of UN Security C-ouncil Resolution 2554, in-cluding through the establishment of a stable const-ructive inter-Syrian dialo-gue in various formats,” the message says. the sides re-affirmed their unwavering support for the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of Syria, and stressed the need to intensify international efforts to improve the humanitarian situation in Syria and the post-conflict reconstruction of the country.”
The diplomatic service added that also on Friday, extensive consultations with Jarba were held by the special representative of the President of Russia for the Middle East and African countries, Deputy Foreign Minister of Bogdanov.
Lavrov will take part in an international conference on Libya, which will be held in Paris on November 12, with the participation of the transitional Libyan authorities.
