Opp. calls agreement between PM and military a betrayal

CAIRO (RIA Novosti): The Union of Trade Unions, opposition to the military authorities of Sudan, issued a statement in which it rejected the signed political agreement between the military and the previously ousted Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdok, calling it a “betrayal.”
The head of the Sovereign Council of Sudan, Abdel Fatah al-Burkhan, and Abdullah Hamdok, previously ousted by the military from the post of Prime Minister, on Sunday signed a political agreement providing for the return of the head of the Cabinet of Ministers to his post. One of the points of the declaration was the release of all political prisoners in the country. The signed agreement also guarantees the transfer of power in the country to the civilian government within the previously established period.
“The treason agreement signed today between Hamdok and Al-Burkhan is completely rejected and concerns only its parties. This is just a false attempt to legitimize the recent coup and the authority of the Military Council, as well as the political suicide of Dr. Hamdok,” the opposition said in a statement.
