LPR names Georgian mercenaries who fought in Donbass

LUGANSK (Agencies): Ivan Filiponenko, an official representative of the People’s Militia of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic, said that the defense department of the LPR had identified seven Georgian mercenaries who fought in the Donbass on the side of the Ukrainian security forces.

“As a result of the publication of information on the official sources of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine , the personal data of the active servicemen of the Georgian army who took part in the international exercises from June 28 to July 10 became known. During the analysis of the information, it was established that seven servicemen from the delegation of the Georgian regular army, serving in the marines, previously took part in hostilities in the Donbass and, as part of the international battalions, fired at the settlements of the republics, “Filiponenko told reporters.

He recalled that Georgia denies sending regular troops and military specialists to Ukraine to participate in hostilities.

“These facts once again demonstrate the concentrated efforts of a number of countries aimed at intervening in an internal armed conflict in order to increase influence in the military-political structure of Ukraine,” added an official representative of the republic’s defense department.

In the summer of last year, additional measures to ensure an armistice came into force in Donbass. These measures imply a complete ban on firing, placing weapons in and near settlements, offensive and reconnaissance and sabotage actions. The engineering equipment of positions and the use of drones by the parties to the conflict near the line of contact are also prohibited. In addition, the measures provide for disciplinary liability for violation of the ceasefire. Ceasefire orders containing measures to maintain it must be in effect until the conflict is fully resolved.
