Lavrov and Cavusoglu discuss regional issues

ANKARA (TASS): Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, in a telephone conversation on Friday with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu, discussed the current situation in Ukraine and stressed the danger of Kiev’s course aimed at escalating tensions in the southeast of the country.
“The situation in the region was substantively discussed with an emphasis on the situation in Ukraine. The Russian side emphasized that Kiev’s course of escalating tensions in the southeast of the country, encouraged by its Western partners, threatens with dangerous destabilization of the situation,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
Lavrov also, in a conversation with Cavusoglu, urged him to take seriously Moscow’s concerns regarding military-technical cooperation between Kiev and Ankara, which contributes to the militarization of Ukraine.
“They called upon to take as seriously as possible our concerns regarding Turkish-Ukrainian cooperation in the field of military-technical cooperation, which, among other things, contributes to the further militarization of Ukraine,” the Russian diplomatic agency said in a statement.
The parties did not disregard other aspects of the international agenda, including the situation in the Caucasus and the Balkans, and also discussed the bilateral agenda. “The current issues of bilateral relations and the schedule of upcoming Russian-Turkish contacts at the highest and high level were considered.”
