F.P. Report
WASHINGTON DC: The Coordinating Council of Organizations of Russian Compatriots in the United States (KSORS) was forced to suspend its public work due to the tough and unprecedented pressure from the American special services in violation of the legal rights of the Russian diaspora to preserve their national cultural identity and freely maintain ties within the diaspora and with Russia, the document says.
For several years, the FBI has taken hostile actions against members of the Russian-speaking community in the United States, threatening criminal prosecution in connection with alleged non-compliance with the American law on foreign agents. The legitimate humanitarian activities of KSORS, carried out on the principles of openness and cooperation, do not violate American law and are not subject to the said law.
The Russian Foreign Ministry will continue to protect the rights and interests of Russian compatriots in the United States using all available international legal and bilateral instruments. Purposeful repressions against representatives of our community have led to a gross violation of personal and civil rights and freedoms. Such actions lead to further degradation of Russian-American relations. We will demand an immediate end to the politically motivated persecution of our fellow citizens in the United States.
