IMF suspended interaction with Afghanistan

WASHINGTON DC (RIA Novosti): The International Monetary Fund ( IMF ) will not interact with Afghanistan until there is clarity with the government of the republic, said IMF spokesman Jerry Rice .

“Our interaction with Afghanistan was suspended until there is clarity in the international community on the recognition of the government. The IMF program there (in the republic) was paused. The country does not have access to the fund’s resources,” Rice said at a briefing.

According to him, the IMF is deeply concerned about the impending economic and humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan and calls on the international community to immediately focus on this issue.
