‘West will not get off with empty words in dialogue with Russia’

NEW YORK (RIA Novosti): The West will not be able to get away with empty words at the upcoming talks on security guarantees between Russia and the United States and Russia and NATO, Dmitry Polyansky, the first deputy representative of the Russian Federation to the UN, said at a briefing.
He stressed that Moscow’s concern is fully justified, since it was not Russia that approached NATO’s borders, but vice versa.
“We are promoting the principle of indivisible security – that the security of one state cannot be ensured at the expense of the security of others. This is the key idea of many documents that were signed in the early and mid-90s. So we want to return to this spirit… We are very constructive. But I do not think that our colleagues will get off with a kind of “blah blah”, as Greta Thunberg puts it. This is not an ultimatum, “Polyansky said.
He stressed that Russia wants serious guarantees from the US and NATO. According to him, preparations for negotiations are being worked out, but in the case of NATO, Moscow needs to “clarify the details of their proposal.”
