WASHINGTON DC (RIA Novosti): The head of the Central Command (CENTCOM) of the US Armed Forces, Kenneth Mackenzie, believes that over the past time Iran has made great progress in the development of its nuclear program and is now “very close” to the possibility of creating nuclear weapons.
“They’re very close this time,” Mackenzie said in an interview with Time magazine, assessing how close Tehran is to getting nuclear weapons.
“I think they (Iran) like the idea of a breakthrough,” added a senior US military.
At the same time, Mackenzie confirmed that the US leadership intends to prevent the appearance of nuclear weapons in Iran. “Diplomats are leading this process, but Central Command always has various plans of action that we can implement if instructed,” he added.
