UN confirms postponement of NPT conference for an indefinite period

NEW YORK (TASS): The review conference on the Treaty on the Non-Prolferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), which was supposed to be held in early 2022, has been postponed; a new date has not yet been determined, Farhan Haq, Deputy Official Representative of the UN Secretary General, confirmed to TASS.
Earlier, information appeared in the media that the organizers of the conference again postponed the event due to the threat of the spread of the new coronavirus. “According to the latest information, it [the conference] has been postponed,” said the deputy head of the world organization and added that the final decision on the issue was made on Thursday morning.
The Review Conference on the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons is held every five years. The tenth meeting was supposed to take place in New York in May 2020, but was postponed due to the pandemic. It was expected to take place from 4 to 28 January 2022.
