Journalists of sanctioned media appeal to UN and OSCE

KIEV (RIA Novosti): The collectives of the sanctioned Ukrainian media have addressed a letter to a number of international organizations and ambassadors of some countries, journalists are asking to influence the situation with freedom of speech in Ukraine, the TV channel “Pershy Nezalezhny” (“First Independent”) reported on Wednesday.
Earlier, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelen-skyy put into effect the decision of the National Security and Defense Cou-ncil (NSDC) on sanctions against three companies that own the brands of the TV channels 112 Ukraine, NewsOne, ZIK, First Independent and UkrLive. The owner of the TV channels First Independent and UkrLive is an associate of the head of the political council of the Ukrainian party Opposition Platform – For Life, Viktor Medved-chuk, deputy of the Verk-hovna Rada, head of the parliamentary committee on freedom of speech Nestor Shufrich.
“The journalists of the UkrLive and Pershy Nezal-ezhniy TV channels, illegally closed by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, have addressed an open letter to the world community – European politicians, officials and international journalistic organizations – with a request to influence the situation with freedom of speech and the government’s attempt to introduce censorship in Ukraine,” in the message on the channel’s website.
It is noted that the letter was received by the International Federation of Journalists, the International Press Institute, UN Secretary General António Gutteres, President of the European Council Charles Michel, Head of Freedom House Michael Abramovitz, Media Representative to the OSCE Teresa Ribeiro, Charge d’Affaires of the United States in Ukraine Christina Quinn, extraordinary and German Ambassador Plenipotentiary Anka Feldgusen, Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg, French Senate member Jean-Louis Masson, French Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian, Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel albares, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy, Luigi Di Maio, the Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Sweden, Ann Linde, deputy chairman of the Subcommittee on Human Rights on the European Parliament Foreign Affairs Hanna Neumann and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belgium Sophie Uilms.
“Journalists drew the attention of world leaders and public organizations to the fact that Zelensky is again using the NSDC for his own purposes, as it was previously with the TV channels 112 Ukraine, NewsOne and ZIK – they were closed by the decision of the Council without a corresponding trial. the authorities have shown that the media disloyal to it are its main enemy, which must be eliminated in any way, “the channel added.
